Im Jahre 2013 bin ich zum ersten Mal nach Namibia gekommen. Ich hatte eine Anfrage vom Art Performance Center ( APC ) Tsumeb. Dort unterrichtete ich als Freiwilliger Brass Instrumente und Zeichnen und Malen. Ich war danach mehrere Male dort um zu unterrichten.
Ich wusste, dass es im Norden eine kleine Art School gibt, also reiste ich im Sommer 2024 nach Ongwediva.
Dort lernte ich Laina Abiatal, die Gründerin und Leiterin Kally Arts Foundation kennen.
Laina Abiatal ist Tänzerin und Tanzpädagogin. Sie hat auch im APC Tsumeb gearbeitet, aber wir sind uns persönlich nie begegnet.
Seit 2024 arbeite ich als Lehrperson für für Laina's  Schule in Ongwediva und unterstütze sie.
Um mitzuhelfen Kally Arts Foundation zu unterstützen, gibt es hier in Basel seit 2024 einen Förderverein.


I first came to Namibia in 2013. I had received an invitation from the Art Performance Center (APC) in Tsumeb. There, I volunteered to teach brass instruments, drawing, and painting. I returned several times after that to teach. I knew there was a small art school in the north, so I traveled to Ongwediva in the summer of 2024.

There I met Laina Abiatal, the founder and director of the Kally Arts Foundation. Laina Abiatal is a dancer and dance educator. She also worked at the APC in Tsumeb, but we had never met in person. Since then, I have been working as a teacher for Laina's school and supporting it.
To help support the Kally Arts Foundation, a support association has be active here in Basel since 2024.

Der Förderverein Kally Arts Foundation Namibia, hat das Ziel dieser Kunstschule das Überleben sichern zu helfen und sie weiter zu entwickeln. Neben bescheidenen finanziellen Zuwendungen, ist der Förderverein bemüht, durch Ideen-Austausch Wege zu finden wie diese Schule sich selbst helfen und mehr Eigenmittel generieren kann.

Der Mitgliederbeitrag beträgt 30.-CHF pro Jahr. Es gibt keine Vereinsaktivitäten ausser der jährlichen Mitgliederversammlung. Sie erhalten ca. zweimal im Jahr einen Informationsbrief über das Projekt Kally Arts Foundation, Namibia.

The Kally Arts Foundation Support Association in Namibia aims to help ensure the survival of this art school and to support its further development. In addition to providing modest financial support, the association strives to find ways, through the exchange of ideas, for the school to become self-sufficient and generate more of its own funds
